About Uxbridge BID

We have consulted extensively with the Uxbridge business community prior to the successful ballot. Many thanks to those of you who have helped inform our plans for a BID in Uxbridge. A BID will deliver over £2.5 million of investment to the area over a five-year period, funded by businesses and controlled by businesses. Not only do we see this as an opportunity to improve Uxbridge for businesses, residents and employees; it is vital that we do not fall behind our competitors, with BIDs already well established in Ealing Broadway, West Ealing and Hammersmith. A BID for Uxbridge will be focused on ensuring our town is a fantastic location in which to live and work.

What is a BID?

A BID is set up when an interest thinks the trading environment of an area could be improved by extra services (for example, Street Rangers for extra security, more cleaning, place marketing services, better parking services and improved town centre access). Local businesses in the area are then consulted about the kind of service they want. A suite of services are encompassed into a business plan and proposed to all the businesses in the area, and there is a ballot administered by the local authority. If a majority say yes, then a Business Improvement District (BID) company is formed to provide those services for a term of up to 5 years. It is funded by local businesses and run by a board made up of local businesses and stakeholders.
